O governo holandês avançou com uma proposta para restringir o consumo de canábis e haxixe nos famosos "coffee shops" a cidadãos holandeses. Esta lei pretende tornar estes cafés em clubes privados onde é necessário ter um cartão de sócio ou pagar com cartão de crédito holandês. Desde 1976 que é permitido consumir pequenas quantidades de drogas leves em coffe shops, facto que originou um verdadeiro "turismo de drogas" na Holanda. Desde então, muitos turistas - sobretudo jovens franceses e ingleses - entram no país com o intuito de consumir drogas, algo de ilegal nos países de origem. Se este projecto de lei for aprovado, este género de turismo parece ter os dias contados.The dutch government launched a bill to restrain cannabis and haxixe consumption in the famous coffe shops to dutch citizens only.This law intends to transform these cafes into private clubs where a membership card or payment with dutch credit card will be required. Since 1976 that it is allowed to consume small amounts of light drugs in those coffe shops, and from that moment on a true "drugs tourism" has been taking place in the Netherlands. Since then, many tourists - especially french and english youngsters - travelled to the Netherlands with the purpose to take drugs, something illegal in the origin countries. But if this bill is approved, this sort of tourism may be coming to an end.
